Koraput is a town and a notified area committee in Koraput District in the Indian state of Orissa.

HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, a defence enterprise of the Government of India) is only 15 km from Koraput town. The HAL factory makes military aircraft engines for MIG and expanding for Sukhoi assembly line. The HAL factory and township is surrounded by hills and forest.

Jeypore: 21 kms from Koraput. Ruins of old palaces are the importance of this place. Darbar hall in the palace has good collection of Antique in ivory, silver, sandalwood, rosewood, gold and paintings.


Savara Shrikhetra:The District headquarters situated 2,900 ft. above sea level. Also known as “Sabar Shrikshetra”, the modern Jagannath Temple has come up on a hilltop.


Duduma Waterfall, Machkund:The majestic waterfall, also known as “Matsya Tirtha” falls from a height of 175 meters. A hydro - electric project with its winch developed amidst deep greenery is a place for pleasure.


Dumuriput:A village stands between Koraput and Sunabeda by the side of NH 43. The famous Sri Ram Temple situated in the locality is widely known for the highest kneeling Hanuman Statue in Orissa. Shree Ram Navami festival is popularly celebrated every year which attracts a large number of devotees.

Gupteswar: 65km from Jeypore, cave is famous for the shrine of Lord Gupteswar (Shiva). The natural scenery of this place attracts the pilgrims.

Nandapur: 5kms from Koraput, the great image of Ganapati and throne with 32 steps are the main attractions of this place.

Deomali Peak: Deomali Peak is situated at adistance of 35 km from Koraput with an elevation o 1,672 meter. It is the highest peak in Orissa and the tallest in the whole of the Eastern Ghats. Deomali is dotted with streams and deep valleys, and dence forest.

Kolab Dam:Kolab-At an altitude of about 3000 ft. above sea level on river Kolab, stands the majestic Kolab Reservoir generating Hydro Electric Power. The place is highly admired for its scenic beauty, attracting people for weekend picnic and boating.
